Can't connect through lan or wifi

Hello everyone. I’m new to OpenSuse. Ive tried Ubuntu, before so I know a little about Linux but not much so please bear with me. I just installed OpenSuse and for some reason, I can’t connect at all to the internet. Ubuntu let me connect to my ethernet. What do I need to do to get that going, and also, how do I do the drivers for my wireless? My laptop is an Acer Aspire 4720Z. It has a Pentium Dual Core, and an Atheros wireless card. Not sure about my ethernet, but I don’t know how to figure that out. Anyone have any advice for my situation? Well, thanks in advance for your help.

Post the output from the following commands:

ip addr sh
ifconfig -a
ip route sh
cat /etc/resolv.conf

Also if you can get those same commands run on a working box (Ubuntu
perhaps even) or get the network settings from anything else on the
network that would help.

Good luck.

Those all look pretty good I think, so it’s good you managed to get it
working since it would be really confusing otherwise. For your
wireless, I don’t see it here at all so apparently it’s not enabled.
You may want to bring that up in the wireless forum below this one.

Good luck.

I have the same proble when installing 11.3 on Aspire 4720. During the installation/network config; it gave me an error of No Network Service (or something similar) with the default to use ifup. I flipped it to use Network Manager and it worked. But after applying the patches, it’s no longer working :frowning: Checking my router log, there was no request log from the laptop?
