cant connect my USB stick to my computer (SOLVED)

Hello Again,

forgive me for posting this thread again but I am new to opensuse, including its forums, and I have not been able to view my previous post about the above problem. So here goes again:

When I plug in a USB flash memory in my computer, nothing happens, not even does it register in Dolphin. Any ideas what I should do to solve this problem and be able to access the files on the USB stick?

Thanks

With the usb device connected - open a terminal and become su and do

fdisk -l

Post result

Thanks for the reply.

How can I mark this thread as solved?

Yan

Tell me how you solved it and I’ll mark it solved. But you can’t.

Hi,

I solved it using the “fdisk -l” command.

Thanks

Yan

fdisk -l

Just lists all connected disks. The disks must have been available all the time. Maybe you just missed something.
Anyway at least it’s OK for you now.

same problem here…usb is not listed in Dolphin, but in fdisk -l it is recognized…on the USB is openSUSE_13.2 iso, i did instal fresh OS with that ISO, after 1st start there was no problem with usb, it was in Dolphin and work…then i unplagged it, next day plugged back in and it’s not in Dolphin now…any help? i have win7 / kali linux / openSUSE instaled on this desktop

Hello,

You do NOT have the same problem. The OP was about openSUSE 10.2 and this thread is from 2010!

When you want the maximum exposure of your problem to your potential helpers, you better start a new thread with a good telling title.

BTW:
Please use CODE tags around copied/pasted computer text in a post. It is the # button in the tool bar of the post editor. When applicable copy/paste complete, that is including the prompt, the command, the output and the next prompt.

Huh, no, impossible.
That was on 2010, your problem is different.
IMO, you should start a new thread.

Please, next time use code tags to paste this. The ‘#’ button in the
forum editor.
