Can't change keyboard layout

XFCE version 4.12

xfce4-panel-plugin-xkb-0.8.1-lp151.3.2.x86_64 is installed. Three layouts show but cannot be changed. The “Add” button is faint and cannot be selected either. I have posted on the XFCE forum with no success and I have read posts of similar problems but they are all of different versions.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

If you uncheck the system default, is it still greyed.
I am using xfce 4.14 xfce4-xkb-plugin version 0.8.1-100.1-x86_64

Thanks for the speedy reply. I always uncheck system default. It was working fine before the last software update.

I mean system default under the plugin layout tab.

Maybe it’s about time to upgrade to Xfce 4.14.
Leap 15.1 has it in their repositories. It is the one I am using in Leap 15.1

It’s generally good SOP to update a system before modifying it or making any other major changes.
So, if XFCE 4.14 is indeed available in the OSS and not through a special repository, then simply doing a zypper update should upgrade your XFCE accordingly.

Sorry I am not clear, It is in one of the opensuse repositories for opensuse leap 15.1
https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/xfce/openSUSE_Leap_15.1/

It’s unselected.

If you don’t want an upgrade why not just revert to the old package temporarily while waiting for a fix on the next update. There could be some quirks on the update.

Downgrade the plugin and see if it is going to work.
