Can't add Factory:NonFree repo

Hello,

I’ve been trying to install some software from the NonFree repo, but when I try and add it, I get an error stating Yast can’t find valid metadata and that the repository type can’t be determined.

The URL I’m using is download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/Factory:/NonFree/standard/.

I have the Non-OSS repo enabled, but some packages I need don’t seem to be in there (to be specific: the cg package).

I’ve done a bit of googling and I have found alternative repos, but I haven’t found a direct solution to the problem.

I might just be overlooking something simple, if that’s the case I’m sorry for wasting your time.

Cheerfully yours,

-Tim

I have the same issue. It seems like the repo you linked is there but it redirects to the normal repository which doesn’t have much in it.

That URL is completely wrong.

Try:
http://download.opensuse.org/factory/repo/non-oss/

But it is empty currently anyway.

This might explain it: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2014-08/msg00247.html

Oh I get it, the packages aren’t getting published properly.

Welp, one of the hazards of Factory, I guess.

THanks for the replies,

-Tim.

Yes, or not at all rather.

Stephan Kulow is on vacation right now AFAIK, but should be back next week I think. Maybe this will get fixed then soon.

In the mean time, you could try to use the one for 13.1. I cannot tell you whether this would work or you would have dependency problems. Might depend on the particular packages I suppose.

I had another look and the non-oss repo for Factory does seem to be populated now again.

But the packages are not fully up-to-date. Flash-player in particular (the others do not change that often anyway) is still at version 11.2.202.394 from July 20th, whereas the current version for 13.1 is 11.2.202.400.

But at least you should be able to install and use those packages.

I did get an “Internal Error” (something about importing the GPG-Key) when adding the repo, but I tried a second time and it worked fine then.
I was also able to install some packages without problems.
