Cant access bootmenu, maybe softlocked?

I have been going through a series of problems and hence i looked to tumbleweed as a safe alternative, my issue is in accordance to this blog post
In the installation, I was asked to choose a de, I chose KDE obviously, then it asked me to make a user account. Then it went into installing, so i went away. I came back in a bit to see a cli where I couldn’t type (or do anything i think) so I held the power key for 5 secs (to shut it down) and then opened it again. Now it loads forever showing the laptop manufacturers logo

I used to be able to click esc multiple times when it was rebooting to get a nice clean menu to other menus, like f9 on that menu to go to boot and etc, this was nice since I didn’t have to click f9 or the others by themselves. But now when I do, nothing changes BUT I get a small 12p text in the bottom left corner saying which key I clicked and what it was meant to do. Rn it’s such on this text

F9. . . Change Boot Device Order

So how do I access the grub/boot menu like this!? Am i soft locked?

You haven’t mentioned anything about your CPU, GPU, other hardware, or their age(s), or which TW release you installed from, or whether this is an installation shared by any other OS. Most recently announced TW is 20260308. That F9 message could be coming from an Acer, Biostar or HP BIOS/firmware on account of bootloader failure. Note that the default bootloader is no longer Grub if your computer is UEFI booting. It could be a do-over with a more recent TW snapshot that you don’t walk away from before completion will consume less time than trying to determine what went wrong and then fix it.

Before anything else, you could try booting the installation media and selecting to boot the installed system. If it works, fixing it shouldn’t be unduly difficult.

whoops, i went quite here since nobody was replying.
but i have an HP laptop which does not share an OS with anything else and idk the CPU or GPU and i cant check anymore since i cant do anything

i installed it from the official website.

Yeah, i cant. i just said that i cant get to the boot-loader/bios thing (idk the term) since when i do (usually by clicking esc repeatedly -then a menu comes with f9 to select boot device order- OR clicking f9 repeatedly to go to the grub directly)
when i try to get to the grub like i used to, it doesn’t work. so now i cant reinstall OpenSUSE at all and am completely stuck

have i softlocked myself?? do i have to go to a thirdparty repairsman now?

Did you get a manual with that HP? If you did, there should be a specifications section.

What happens when you try the F9 key to change boot device order to boot the media you installed from?

If you don’t have a manual for your HP notebook, try looking on the bottom for a model name/number so you can download a manual from HP’s support website.

I don’t know how old your computer is, but the key to enter BIOS for HP machines should be F10. Hitting that repeatedly as the computer boots should hopefully get you into BIOS, which will give you more information about your PC.

If you do manage to get into BIOS, it may be worth disabling Fast Boot if it is enabled, then restart and hit Esc or F9 repeatedly until (hopefully) the boot order menu appears.
