canon pixma pro9000 gutenprint driver

I’m running openSuse 12.1 with gutenprint 5.2.7.
I’ve installed a canon pro9000 with the gurenprint pro9000 driver.
It will print the cups ghostscript testpage almost OK. The text looks good but the colour portion of the colour wheel is offset a couple of cm to the right and isn’t circular.
It will also print from gimp using the gutenprint ui but the photographes are extremely distorted and the colours are everywhere.
Has anyone managed good prints using this driver?
Gutenprint developers must have got it working since the experimental qualifier was removed, makes me wonder if something got borked when the package was built for 12.1.
I also installed turboprint and it prints OK so there isn’t a problem with the printer.
Thanks, MM

Thanks, I will but not quite yet.
I wanted to check with this forum first to see if anyone has the pro9000 working under opensuse 12.1.
My next step is to compile gutenprint 5.2.7 myself.
If it works I’ll open a bug with opensuse if not, I’ll go to the gutenprint developers.

I compiled the latest gutenprint 5.2.7 from sourceforge and got the same result as with the opensuse packages.
I sent a note to the developers.
I’ll update this thread when I hear back from them.

Thanks for the update.

I noticed that gutenprint-5.2.8-pre1 is available, but I didn’t investigate the changelog.

I just found this thread after trying the Gutenprint 5.2.7 drivers on my 12.1 boxes and getting bad Test page output.
In my case, US-Letter is the default.
The test page outputs look good for B&W but the colors are distorted (circle prints as oval) and offset from where they are supposed to line up with the Black.
I also tried setting to A4, same issues.
