Canon MP-500 Printer

I lost the cnijfilter-common-2.60-1.i386.rpm & cnijfilter-mp500-2.60-1.i386.rpm files when I upgraded to OpenSuse 11.1 and these files are no longer available on the Canon FTP site ftp://download.canon.jp/pub/driver/bj/linux/

Does anyone know where I can get them from, or has copies they would be prepared to send me.

Regards

I can’t find them any where. Maybe the customer support of Canon can help you.

For your next printer. HP is more supported in linux and you can get very old drivers.

Doh!! I hadn’t lost the rpm’s (I thought that was odd!) I’d never used them! Yast under Suse 11.0 recognizes the printer “out of the box” - Yast under Suse 11.1 does not. As a last ditch attempt, I tried to configure the printer through the CUPs web interface (localhost:631) and now I have a working printer!

well done to get the printer running through cups;

the canon asia site was said to be very good for drivers; but no MP500 drivers there;

a good link for howto though for anyone in the future seems to be
