I have one of those Canon iR3045N photocopiers within my LAN. It is capable of scanning documents and can be used as a printer as well. The restriction is that this works with some obscure OS called W*s. Is there anyone who has tried to integrate the Canon within an openSUSE network? There is a driver available (iR3045 look for #312 close to the end) but I wonder if it can be made to work.

I can not directly address this printer, but the Cannon drivers usually work
on OpenSuse. If you run x86_64 you may need to set up a filter from the 32
bit library to the 64 bit library. An example of this is:
su
ln -s /usr/lib/cups/filter/pstocanonij /usr/lib64/cups/filter
Your filter may not be pstocanonij so check what Cannon filter is installed.
If Canon_europe does not have rpm’s you might want to check cannon_asia.
Canon_asia often has rpm’s when other Canon sites do not.
I did not see the iR3045 listed on the Openprinting site, but you might want
to check for yourself. Also look at similar printers. See:
