Recently this model printer was moved to the paperweight section of the linux printer database, well this was a correct move for (new Installs of 11.2 ) but , there is a way around this if you have one of these printers and they are great for basic printing in linux.
this is not the best way to save a printer but it worked for me and i did not have to go out and replace two printers.
The first step is to install SUSE 11.0 and run all of the updates. this will allow the canon drivers to work properly.
Second, go to the canon/asia website and retrieve the ip2600 driver for linux. it is a gz file and unzip it to a folder in your documents file. once this is done right click the two separate files and open with install software. once both of these are installed, plug in the 2600 and run yast and set up the printer in the hardware listing. (all you want to do is configure the printer).
print a test page and it should have worked.
after all the above is done, restart your system and do an update to 11.2 and your printer should be working. this worked for me, and i did not have to replace my printers… Good Luck.
