Check yourself:

I’ve checked it previously. Kernel compilation may be needed in some cases. This is not my printer & PC so:

  1. kernel compilation is inconvenient in my case.
  2. I can’t afford try if some distro will be working.

I need confirmation from someone who has verified that it will be working in openSUSE.

Then have a look here:
https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Hardware
There is a printer section, but I don’t see that model there. Not many
people bother to update the info they have.

Personally, I avoid Canon. I was bitten by their lack of support, so
never again — even if it is good hardware, which it usually is.

However, you could look at Turboprint
http://www.turboprint.info/. It is commercial drivers, and
not expensive. I used them some time ago and they were good. If they
keep the same system, you can install and use their software for free
testing. What it does is insert a banner somewhere in the paper: you see
the result and the quality, but you can not really “use” it for real. If
you like the results, you pay and get back a code that removes the
limitations.

However, your model is not listed there, either. Or i don’t see it.

Follow Sauerland’s lead. The Canon page lists this model as being supported by the UFRII driver and available for download from there. IIRC, the archive archive file contains two RPM packages that can be installed via the install script or directly. I’ve never owned a Canon printer, but have helped a number of users get their hardware working unde Linux (when driver support is there. I’m sure we’ll be able to assist further if required.
