Cann't copy a file to my flash

Hello all.
I’m a newbie in Linux.

I cann’t copy big file (more than 4GB) to my flash card (volume 7.5 GB). I tried did it in terminal under root, but ‘cp’ command returns that file is a too big. My OS is a openSUSE 11.0 (32 bits).

How can I solve this problem?

Thanks for your advices.

because flash sticks are FAT file system

you cannot have single files of such size, must be under 4GB

Maybe due to the fact that the file system type on your flash card does not accept files bigger then a certain size.

Check the fs-type of your flash card and look for its properties or publish the type here and wait for somebody who can fill in the numbers.

Edit: lost from caf4926! He is faster and knows the numbers.
