Cannot update with zypper

Hi,

I just installed OpenSuse 15.5.

When I run sudo zypper update it returns The following 73 package updates will NOT be installed.

How can I get the updates to install?

Show full terminal output from:

zypper lr -d
zypper up

Screenshot of output

(deleted screenshot)

Copy the terminal output and put them here in the preformatted text tags </>
Most users don’t click arbitrary links to external tools. If the terminal output is to big , use openSUSE tools like https://paste.opensuse.org/ to upload terminal output and post the link here.

Ah OK, understood.

Ok, remove repository 1 to 7 as they are coming from 1-click installations and are invalid.

The problem is coming from home repo number 8. After removal of this repo, the problem should be gone…
It contains packages which are also available via OSS/nonOSS repo. But as it has the same priority as OSS and nonOSS, but the latter get prefered.

@rousty Hi and welcome to the Forum

They are all coming from here https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/alveus:/depository/15.5/x86_64/ as @hui indicated.

Simple, don’t use home repos…

Use the packman repo for the broadcom package, that user is not allowed to build that on OBS…

When I installed Leap I had no wifi working. So I found this…
https://software.opensuse.org/package/broadcom-wl

and installed the first one. So I will disable that(then my wifi will break again, but I need to get broadcom-wl from packman). OK, I will look into packman.

Thanks.

it’s doing the “will NOT update” again.

I added packman and deleted the other repos mentioned above.

What is the problem now?

Did you do a zypper ref?

Can you show again the output from:
zypper lr -d
sudo zypper ref
sudo zypper up

This forum is saying “I can’t post a link to that host” now. Agh…

@rousty log out and log in and try again.

zypper output

@rousty use zypper -vvv up --allow-vendor-change it should show those vlc packages switching to packman versions…

Hi,

I just installed Tumbleweed on my main laptop now and I have the same problem with zypper.

I immediately enabled packman repo. I ran sudo zypper -vvv up --allow-vendor-change and I ran sudo zypper ref

But zypper still says it won’t update packages. Here is screenshot:

I must have an extra repo enabled. Which one do I disable/not need?

I thought I seen duplicate repos, so I deleted some from previous screenshot, rand the updates and still zypper won’t update. Latest screenshot:

@rousty what does the following show;

zypper -se -s librist

I cannot read these tiny characters in these pictures. What is the reason to post textual information as picture? How difficult is it to select text and paste it in your post?

How difficult is it to click on the image to zoom in? Ask a stupid question, get a stupid response.

Have a good day.

It’s OK thanks, I got sorted.

I released after posting, this thread was Leap specific and my second encounter with this issue was on a different laptop with Tumbleweed installed.

I didn’t know Leap/Tumbleweed have different updates ie zypper up && zypper dup
