"Cannot unmount volume" message when opening dvd drive

When I load a dvd, it is automounted as expected. However, when I press the button on the drive to eject it, the media IS ejected but I get an error message:

*Cannot unmount volume

The volume ‘***’ was probably mounted manually on the command line.

Details>
Device to unmount is not in /media/.hal-mtab so it is not mounted by HAL*

Where *** is the name of the dvd.

Does anyone know how to resolve this as it is a little annoying.

I have had the same problem.

This is how I resolved it:
*

  1. eject all discs from your drives (if not possible, restart your computer end eject the drives while booting)

  2. go to “/media” as root

  3. remove everything in there (rm -rf *)

After performing these steps my Eject button works properly.
