Cannot start GnomeTerminal

Hi, could you please help? I have 64bit system and suse 11.1 + Gnome.

Got the following error on trying to open gnome terminal from terminal
gnome-terminal: symbol lookup error: gnome-terminal: undefined symbol: vte_terminal_cursor_shape_get_type.

+Some times I see problems with GTK2 themes:

/usr/share/themes/Synchronicity/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:46: Clearlooks configuration option “menuitemstyle” is not supported and will be ignored.
/usr/share/themes/Synchronicity/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:47: Clearlooks configuration option “listviewitemstyle” is not supported and will be ignored.
/usr/share/themes/Synchronicity/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:48: Clearlooks configuration option “progressbarstyle” is not supported and will be ignored.

+Compiz does not start after reboot even after setting compiz as default windows manager.

Is these problems are about GTK? How to fix it. I got the latest version of it.
Thank you!

My guess it’s related to desktop settings / effects / themes

What happens if you try a new .gnome
(Is that what it is in gnome? I’m kde and all our settings are in .kde)
Just rename current to .gnome_old
You will have to do it from outside X

eg:

mv /home/username*/.gnome .gnome_old

An alternative is just to create a new user account and see if that works.

Hi, thank you for response!
Yeah, it is Gnome problem, I did not see similar issue using KDE. I cannot see the file you mentioned. I created a new user but he has the same issue.
