Cannot see ASUS Nexus 7 2013 Wifi connected on Tumbleweed

I want to use my Nexus 7 tablet (currently running android 6.01) with the new 18.1 LineageOS. However, I cannot find the device when connecting to USB. I have tried with all USB ports and with different cables (charging works). I have tried setting the nexus as MTP and PTP and also connected it to Windows 10 (Computer A) and Windows 11 and OpenSuse tumbleweed (Computer B- dualboot). All these combinations have been tried with USB debugging enabled and disabled.

lsusb gives:

Is there a sure way of confirming device (Nexus 7) hardware error?
I can of course buy a new tablet just for the reason I am incompetent but preferably not.

Haven’t used LineageOS in eons but as I recall the usb options also had a file transfer option in the default usb configuration. Prolly under developer options.

Have you tried enabling this?
