Cannot read DVDs or USB

Using 11.1RC1, KDE4.2 the system cannot read DVDs or the Usb attached drives.

They show up by name in Dolphin but trying to access them gives an error along the lines of:

“An error occurred while accessing “music” System responded: org.freedesktop.DBus.error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply”

what happens in a terminal when you cd to it?

:~> cd /media/music
bash: cd: /media/music: Permission denied
:~> su
Password:
 # cd /media/music
:/media/music # dir
total 0
:/media/music #

The same happens when I plug a drive into the Usb. I can see NIKON80 but in su cannot see the files.

What is the format, NTFS or FAT32?

Suse: HowTo set disk access permissions for Fat32 (VFAT) on a desktop PC

Although if it’s FAT32 you should be able to just plug and play!

The camera is vFat. the DVD is whatever DVDs are…

Unfortunately, i can’t suggest much more as I am using OS 11.0 and not the development version.

Maybe some beta users can comment!

OK, thanks for your input
