Cannot play audio cd's in Suse 11

For the life of me I cannot get audio cd’s to play in Suse 11.

Sound card is working fine and plays streaming videos off the internet and system sounds etc.

If I put an audio cd in the notifier asks me if I want to play it with Amarok or Kaffine. The selected app opens, but does not mount the CD.

ksCD mounts and plays the CD, but no sound.

Ideally I would like to get Amarok working. I have installed the xine engine and restricted content options.

I have also tried changing the default audio cd location in ‘Settings -> Configure Amarok’ to /dev/sr0

I just cannot get the pesky thing to read Audio CD’s.

I tried the ‘dcop hded mediamanager fullList’ as suggested. On one PC it said ‘call failed’ (or similar) and on another ‘cannot connect to DCOP server’ (or similar).

Help, please!

Sorry, forgot to add, KDE4. Thanks.

Hey, I’m a SUSE noob and I have the same problem. Amarok will not mount the cdrom drive in SUSE 11.0 KDE4.

I have recently installed openSUSE 11.0 on a Toshiba A40 laptop and a DELL Dimension 9100 desktop and have the same problem on both systems. After googling it seems that Amarok (KDE3) the version installed with SUSE 11.0 has porting problems with regard to running under KDE4. Kaffeine works ok for me.

I’ve got the same problem.

I don’t understand why KsCD doesn’t work.
I use it from KDE 4.1 (KDE Factory, unstable); reads CDs correctly (with analog output) but doesn’t play sound.

Kaffeine works fine for me.

Is a KsCD bug ?

Hei, I think you have to an audio cable between your cd player and motherboard or your sound card to play audio cd’s using KsCD player. Direct audio I think.

I got it. Indeed, I can to play CD audio with WMP using by direct audio output.
I’d like to know if somebody , with KDE 4.1, can to play a CD music in KsCD
