I am running suse 10.3 and have a DVD writer and CD-ROM reader drives, on the IDE secondary configured as primary and secondary. The system will mount the DVD but not the CD drive. The system finds the CD drive on boot. YAST doesn’t.
I note that there is a /dev/sr0 (to which the DVD is mounted) but no /dev/sr1. Do I have to create one first? Do I use mknod?
Both drives worked under suse 9.3 so I know there is a way. Thanks for the help.

And what about “dmesg”? It shows anything? :-?
Also, take a look into /var/log/boot.msg to check for any notice of CD-ROM
unit.

That’s strange. Maybe you should fill a bugzilla, but first, test it with a
LiveCD (openSUSE 11.1) booting from DVD unit to see if you are still
experiencing this issue.
