Have done a new install of OpenSuse 11.1 and this time selected Gnome desktop hoping the problem I had with KDE would have gone away.
Alas no. Using Grip I cannot get an audio CD to mount and get the following error message:-
DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus).
This flashes up every second or so. Eventually all the tracks
are shown but nothing functions properly.
I have CDROM and CDRW SCSI drives and the system seems unable to resolve between the two. I get this problem whether I start Grip with a CD in the drive or put one in after starting Grip.
This is first time with Gnome so may have made an obvious mistake but would appreciate help please.
Missed the edit window. The sequel to this is that if I use the CDRW then grip works correctly although encoding using lame is much slower than it was with the same hardware and Suse 10.0.
Any ideas why the CD drive causes problems?
