Hi

Do you mean you fail to authenticate as user at the login screen? Forgotten credentials? Or something else?
Known good credentials fail to authenticate.
I wonder if could be a missing package? Maybe I had an unprovided dependency & deleted package instead of waiting for repos to settle?
The graphic login is handled by the display-manager software. That could be āsddmā or āgdmā or ālightdmā. You have not indicated which you are using.
Have you tried login at a command line? Does that work? (You can get to a command line with CTRL-ALT-F1).
If you have a habit of logging into a GUI as root you may have inadvertently changed ownership of .Xauthority in your user directory this would cause a failure to login
sddm and I believe gdm have been placing $XAUTHORITY as a random file in /tmp for a while now in TW, so thatās probably not the case
What does fail to authenticate means?
I suggest you create a brand new user and attempt a graphical login.
I suggest you provide more information about your system. Guesswork is a waste of time.
I tried logging in Ctrl + Alt + F1 & could only login as root. I changed the password for my user account & can now login at will. Misconfigured credentials, once upon a timeā¦
So, yeah Iām really stupid, really.
:shame::?:shame:
It seems that you now have it fixed. Iām glad to hear that.
