I have a problem where i cannot login to my yahoo email account using pidgin messenger. When i am trying to login, the circle logo that should be running next to the available status is hanging. i also cannot use the messenger in yahoo mail website. I really hope somebody can help me to solve this problem.

You may want to check the version of Pidgin you’re running.
I had the same problem and went to their page. They’re aware that Yahoo messenger doesn’t work right on builds of Pidgin below 2.51. Yahoo’s changed the challenge part of the login as well as how they set up the servers.
You’ll need to upgrade - but be aware that the upgrade requires a few dev libraries including libpurple.
I haven’t yet fully resolved this on my box, but I hope to tonight!

Hiya,
I’ve solved this by changing the Pager server
(Pidgin–>Accounts–>YourYahooAccount–>Edit Account–>Advanced) to
cn.scs.msg.yahoo.com. This seems to allow older versions of pidgin to
connect.
