Cannot load -t pattern devel_c-c++ devel_kernel in Tumbleweed

Forced to do a clean, new install of TW the other day. I have done this several times before, but I guess I have forgotten how. When I do to install the NVIDIA drivers the hard way, I can’t get the -t pattern devel_C_C++ devel_kernel to take. I get the unable to find those dependencies error. What am I doing wrong?

Even though I blacklist the nouveau driver, the NVIDIA driver hangs. I read the “hard way” wiki and have no more ideas. Any help would be appreciated. On my other TW works fine. Thanks!!!

With the new 4.10 kernel you have to patch the NVIDIA driver.
Sorry don’t hvae a URL but do a search here there are several thread dealing with the problem

Thanks for the info. But should that prevent the C++ compiler from loading properly? So is there an additional patch that needs to come in addition to loading a compiler, blacklisting the nouveau driver and downloading and running the NVIDIA proprietary driver? Thanks. I learn something new every time I read the forums.

Hmmm did you load the gcc compiler it is not installed by default

You also need the kernel headers usual found in the kernal-devel package for the kernel you use which you would need to install.

Just guessing since you have not shown the kernel installer’s output
