Cannot join Active Directory Domain

HI,
I am rather new to openSUSE and I installed my first Leap15 Workstation today.
I wanted to join this workstation to my Active Directory domain to be able to login with my AD User.
I followed the instructions from the “Leap15 Security Guide” Chapter I.7 but I get the error “The enrollment process failed. Command output: Failed to join domain: failed to lookup DC info for domain XXX over rpc:{Device Timeout}. The specified I/O operation on %hs was not completed before the time-out period expired”.
The AD Server is in the same IP subnet as my workstation, I can ping it without problem.
Firewall is deactivated on workstation and on AD server.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS: I was able to join a Windows Server in the same subnet without problem

  1. Double-check your DNS setting is set to your AD DNS server.
    1a. To be doubly certain, it can’t usually hurt to create an entry in your /etc/hosts pointing to your Domain Controller

  2. I find it’s more reliable to create entries in your AD for your client machine and User before joining instead of creating your accounts on the fly when you join.
