I’m running 13.1 with KVM and tries to install a new vm from a 12.3 iso image. It all starts up Ok but after setting language and probing the system I get the following message in a pop-up “Unable to create repository from URL ‘cd:/?devices=/dev/disc/by-id/ata-QEMU_DVD_ROM_QM00003’.” when initializing software manager. It’s most probably an openSUSE problem since I’ve been able to create a Oracle Linux virtual machine form an ios :(.
To me it looks like your install app is pointing to your physical DVD drive instead of the path to your ISO.
You need to absolutely double-check you’ve defined the path to your ISO correctly.
Then in <great detail> describe the <exact> steps to where you get your error.
And, then submit a bug report to http://bugzilla.novell.com

Also,
If you’ve installed libvirt (vm manager and vm install), there are actually 2 different “Create VM” apps, although there are multiple ways to access both, I’ll describe one for each
- Open vm manager, click on the button at the top left that creates a new VM
- From the Desktop App Launcher > System > Virtualization > Create Virtual Machines for Xen and KVM
