Cannot install NVidia 1050 HP pavilion cb007nv

Dear community,
I am writing to ask for help about installation of a discreet GPU.
I cannot make my open suse tumbleweed OS recognize & use the Nvidia geforce gtx 1050 card, no matter what driver I install. There are daily updates released, still the switch process between the intel mesa card and the nvidia simply does not work. It seems as the nvidia card just disappeared!

PCI Hardware log follows, any helping hand?

Thanks in advance!

@nickaiva Hi and welcome to the Forum
Have you checked the system BIOS for gpu and slot settings?

I have an Intel M/B here, if I disable the gpu in the cpu, I see my Nvidia card as the Primary, If I enable the gpu in the cpu and set to Primary, I see both devices and use the nvidia as an offload device.

Is the device seated in the slot properly?

Oh, as an aside, if posting code, use either three backquotes (markdown) or the code tag in the editor window

Hi Malcom
The bios of the laptop has no options for selecting any GPU. As far as I know GPU and CPU are not removable. By code you mean log output and commands I guess?

Any other ideas?

Thank you very much indeed!

@nickaiva Ahh a Laptop, so are no settings in the BIOS for the iGPU (Intel) and dGPU (Nvidia)?

Can you post the output from inxi -Fxxz? (In those code tags)

@nickaiva and you are really sure this system has dual GPUs? If you go here and enter the system serial number it shows all the parts in your system, does it show and Nvidia GPU? https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer/

Please delete the laptop serial number after you get sure that the laptop has 2 gpus

@nickaiva Yes, you didn’t need to post (I deleted the posts), but I see;

920137-001	ASSY,BU IDS DSC GTX10502GB i7-7700HQ ST1

And this was always visible, are you dual booting?

No dual boot, any ideas anyone?

@nickaiva Is it visible in the system BIOS? How long have you had this system, did it always work?

No bios settings for GPUs. The laptop is 4 years old. Perhaps I try Ubundu
