I’ve recently fresh-installed with 13.1, after an upgrade gone wrong to LEAP 42.1, I’ve decided to upgrade back to 13.2.
Right now, I was able to mitigate incompatible packages from 13.2 by keeping them at 13.1 repo, and taking advantage of the compatible packages from 13.2.
So far, this FrankenSUSE is very well optimal.
Now there’s a slight issue, I can get things such as cursor themes from, but I cannot get new themes for the icons, GTK themes and etc. using the provided packages. It says it’s initializing forever. I would appreciate an input to how to fix this.
Thank you Wolfi, is there is a configuration file I can edit to accommodate for the move? I can download and install i.e. icons but not desktop themes and etc. At least I don’t know how.
The URLs are contained in .knsrc files in /usr/share/kde4/config/.
But actually this does not seem to be the problem.
I just tried it on my 13.2 system, and it works fine.
You mention that you have a mixture between 13.1 and 13.2.
Maybe that’s the problem?
What exactly do you mean with " I was able to mitigate incompatible packages from 13.2 by keeping them at 13.1 repo, and taking advantage of the compatible packages from 13.2."?
What packages are incompatible with what?
What repos do you now have?
OTOH, there was a problem similar to yours in Plasma5. It didn’t work when a proxy was in use.
So are you behind a proxy?
I suppose your internet connection is working fine otherwise?
If not, this cannot work obviously.
I can download and install i.e. icons but not desktop themes and etc. At least I don’t know how.
Ideally there would be instructions on the page where you download them, or a README file included.
To clarify, it works for icon themes, Plasma (desktop) themes, and color schemes.
I just noticed that getting GTK themes indeed does not work, it just hangs forever at “Initializing”.
Unfortunately I cannot tell you how to manually install a GTK theme either, probably you just need to extract it to ~/.local/share/themes/ (create the folder if it doesn’t exist).
