Cannot fresh install Leap

So I’ve been trying to install OpenSUSE Leap 42.1 on my ASSUS N56v laptop and I’m running into issues time and time again. This is me trying to install Leap 42.1 for the first time ever and its lead me to the point where I’m just getting pissed off with it now.

  1. its not installing BIOS Grub as it should for it to pick it up
  2. Ethernet driver screws up and can’t download repositories
  3. Its taken me all **** day to try install this **** after repeated attempts.
  4. It won’t let me customize and create the partitions the way I want it to.

I wanted to go with BtrFS for /root, and Ext4 on /home, created all the necessary swaps I needed also.

I wanted to move from Linux Mint to Leap for a new change. I have dual-boot system going on with 2 SSD’s, my secondary installed OS is Windows 10. I cannot however boot to Windows because I had previously set it up for GRUB2 to handle the boot selections. I need to get Leap to properly I stall and stop pissing about with its stupid errors and glitches and have GRUB2 available again for multi-boot.

I really did not think it be be this **** hard just to install this OS when it should of only taken me around 15-20 minutes to install. Its so annoying that its takes me all-dYs with repeated attempts each time fails to install properly.

I’m not completely sure what you are doing.

Your computer probably comes with UEFI support. And the chances are that Windows 10 is using UEFI for booting.

If that’s the case, then you should install Leap for UEFI booting. You need all systems to boot the same way to avoid problems.

In order to install Leap for UEFI booting, you will need to boot the install media in UEFI mode. Oh, and you will have to disable secure-boot for the install, if you are using the official install media (they came with broken secure-boot support).

To create the partitioning that you want, click the “Create Partitioning” button on the first partitioning screen. And then click “Custom partitioning” on the next screen.

I’ll wait for your comments before I say more, because it isn’t clear what you were actually trying to do.

An added comment:

Please provide the output from:

fdisk -l

If you already have Mint installed, you can run that from mint. Or boot the install media to rescue mode, login as root and run the command there.
