I’ve used KDE 4.4 since its beta. I’ve installed package ‘kde4-webkitpart’, so Konqueror now has option ‘View -> View Modes -> Webkit’. When I select, an error is given though:
There was an error loading the module WebKit
The diagnostics is:
Could not find plugin 'WebKit' for application 'konqueror'
Google says it’s working in other distros though, so is it a problem in openSuse packages?
I tested it with another computer. It had KDE 4.3.4 installed and Webkit KPart worked OK. After upgrading it to 4.3.90 the same error is given for Webkit.
Seems it is KDE4.4 issue with the WebKit, as it is still in beta and rc stage. As you said it worked under 4.3.4, so i will suggest wait for the final release which is due date 9th feb or rc2 due date 20th jan(tomorrow).
The main theme of writing that was, its still in development and bug fixing stage.
Even after final release there will be bugs, which can be reported later and can be fixed. So by RC does not mean it is complete and should have no bugs.
From beta to RC, a lot of bugs already fixed.
You can track it here or submit a bug report if not submited before.
Hi. The kde4-webkitpart package in the kde4 factory repository still has the version number 4.3.90. Maybe that’s why it’s not working in RC2 and RC3. For me, it used to work in RC1.
is it possible to turn Webkit in Konqueror instantly on as default engine? Now I have to do this step manually in View menu but when I close Konqueror or open new tab it is still KHTML.
