cannot download opensuse 12.1 after 4 tries.

I have tried now 4 times to download opensuse 12.1 with no luck. Everytime in the last minute of the download (at about the 99% mark) i get a messasge stating the download has been interupted. I have tried to resume the download, but it fails everytime. I am using windows 7 and internet explorer 9. Is there a problem with the download site. I find it hard to believe that I am dowloading it incorrectly. It’s just click and wait.

Thanks for your help

Hi
Install something like wget or firefox to download or a resuming
downloader.

not likely your problem…

-=WELCOME=- new poster!!

there are lots of things that can go wrong, and most of them are pretty
well covered in this information which is linked from the download page,
down below that big “Download” button:

http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Download_help

it includes tips on the various problems which might be encountered and
how to be successful anyway…i’m not sure but i think using IE is
probably the most troublesome method…i bought a new Win7 machine about
this time last year and the only thing i used Win for was to download
and burn an openSUSE disk, so i KNOW it is possible…i think i used
either wget or a bitTorrent, but i don’t actually remember…

if you are sure you don’t have a proxy in the way, or capped file
system, or an IE problem then you might want to ask how to specify a
different mirror (though, i’m pretty confident it is not a download site
problem)

come back with how you got it fixed…and, be sure and read how to test
your download once you are told you have a completed download…

I would use firefox with the plugin for DownThemAll!, and then click on the
metalink url.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I ended up trying Mozilla Firefox and everything worked fine. I suppose thats the end of IE9 for me. It is surprising though that IE9 gives a rip about downloading something.

Anyway thanks again.

kinda strange that IE9 barfs when trying to download a competing
operating system…i guess maybe it is a fortunate (for Microsoft)
quirk and they would testify it was purely accidental and absolutely
unintended…

they said (back in the 90’s) that it was a quirky accident that when
installing NT along side (to double boot with) OS/2 that NT ‘somehow’
messed up the ability to boot OS/2 again…

kinda like the child saying “I didn’t touch it.”
