I have downloaded SLES10 and installed on my computer. I am new to linux and i am struggling to connect to the internet.
I tried through adsl using Kinternet but cannot connect - see log below.

I can ping my ADSL modem and the firewall is disabled.
I hope someone can help with further diagnostics or likely causes. Thanks in advance!
I’m not that familiar w/ADSL specifics but if you can ping it I assume
at least that side of things is on its way to being setup right. To get
other relevant network settings please post the output of the following
commands:
ip addr sh ip route sh cat /etc/resolv.conf
Good luck.

My IP address is set to 192.168.1.150 and the address for the ADSL modem / gateway is 192.168.1.1 - I don’t know where the other IP addresses com from e.g. 192.168.99.1 ad 192.168.99.99 ??
SCE-NOWS:~ # ip addr sh

Well two things concern me. First, I don’t know where those IPs come
from either unless it’s some other device on your network that thinks
it’s the gateway, but it’s not a valid route. So, your default route to
the Internet is via something that doesn’t seem to exist. Can you ping
that 99 address? If not you need to find why your DHCP server handed
that out as a default gateway and fix it. Also you don’t have any DNS
server specified so once you fix your gateway you’ll still have problems
getting to things like google.com unless you can resolve IP addresses
some other way (72.14.207.99 FYI currently).
Good luck.
