cannot connect acer liquid glow e330 MTP protocol

on suse tumbleweed (and 12.2 too) with kde 4.9.3 kio-mtp libmtp and libmtp-tools and libmtpfs installed.
If I connect my acer liquid glow e330 a popuo raise from device notifier, if I click on it an advice appear "the mtp protocol unaspectately died "
in the open dolphin window appear a “portable media player” icon, if I click on it someting open at this address in the bar:
mtp:udi=/org/kde/solid/udev/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.0/usb2/2-1/2-1.2/
but after some minutes nothing opens and appear an error like this:
“The process for the mtp protocol died unexpectedly.”
and the address in the bar change in:
mtp:/E330/

I read this thread and this,
I inserted the acer and dmesg gave this:

 7219.283450] usb 2-1.1: new high-speed USB device number 6 using ehci_hcd
 7219.369952] usb 2-1.1: New USB device found, idVendor=0502, idProduct=339f

 7219.369969] usb 2-1.1: Manufacturer: Acer
 7219.369994] usb 2-1.1: SerialNumber: BK26R00075

so I added a rule in /lib/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules

# For acer E330
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="0502", ATTRS{idProduct}=="339f", SYMLINK+="libmtp-%k", MODE="0666", GROUP="users"

before the last line

RUN+="udev-acl --action=$env{action} --device=$env{DEVNAME}"

I installed jmtpfs , rebooted, but the problem persist.
if I run

pla@pla-tumbleweed:~> jmtpfs

Please report this VID/PID and the device model to the libmtp development team

is there any way to solve??

Hi
I would guess it’s not there yet, hence the report request;

Device 0 (VID=0502 and PID=339f) is UNKNOWN.
Please report this VID/PID and the device model to the libmtp development team

Is there a phone setting to change the storage mode? Also does running
the command usb_modeswitch as root user change anything?

Hi :-), is your :home where I installed jmtpfs from??

my /lib/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules is this

# Android devices - UDEV Rule

# For ASUS Transformer TF101
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="0b05", ATTRS{idProduct}=="4e0f", SYMLINK+="libmtp-%k", MODE="0666", GROUP="users"
# For Samsung GT
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="04e8", ATTRS{idProduct}=="6860", SYMLINK+="libmtp-%k", MODE="0666", GROUP="users"
# For acer E330
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="0502", ATTRS{idProduct}=="339f", SYMLINK+="libmtp-%k", MODE="0666", GROUP="users"
RUN+="udev-acl --action=$env{action} --device=$env{DEVNAME}"

yes, and it is in MTP mode, the other is CAMERA mode PTP, if I try to open with filemanager dolphin from device notifier (in dolphin don’t appear any icon for camera) the result is an error “bad parameters”, if I try to open with gwenview I can see photos.

this:

pla-tumbleweed:/home/pla # usb_modeswitch -v 0502 -p 339f

Looking for default devices ...
 No devices in default mode found. Nothing to do. Bye.

after this if I insert the usb, anything change (also as root dolphin), and also jmtpfs give the same result as before

thnx, ciao :-), pier

Hi
Yes, it’s my repo you installed jmtpfs from :wink:

I would suggest jumping on the libmtp forum or if they have an IRC
channel there and see if they have an idea on how to add your device,
if they can provide advice, patch or later version to build I can sort
that out.

I installed the 1.1.5 version of libmtp9 from here, it works now, only sdcard is visible, but, I don’t know why, only some files are detected and not all the files present in the directory…
thnx, ciao, P:-)

Hi
Not sure (my Transformer is rooted). Have you looked at just using ssh
(sshdroid) or bluetooth to transfer files as an alternative method.

yes, the problem is not transfer files, in one way or another I can do it, the problem is to tranfer files by usbcable, I tried ftpserver and it works perfectly, ssh not yet, but they need a network to work, bluetooth I tried and it works only from phone to pc, the sendfile bluetooth from pc to phone don’t works, and I also don’t like sendfle, I prefere browse files instead to send, but now the browse option is not present in BT, I suppose I have to wait when BTdevelopers will implemento mtp over BT…:slight_smile:
thnx, ciao, P :slight_smile:

It works, but it is terribly slow, 56kb in 4minutes… like water…byte by byte by your hand… or better by your ear…:-))
