Cannot configure with ./configure

Can anyone help me!
I’m a newbie to Linux and using OpenSUSE 11:).
Please suggest some suggestions since i cannot compile any tar file with ./configure.
Well when i use ./configure to configure some software it works and then give errors like no g++ etc:( . I have already installed gcc gnu compiler, make and kernel sources:\ !
Please help since i cannot installed tarred file softwares!

Go to YaST > Software > Software management, and under “filter” select “patterns”. Then select the pattern under Developement called “Base Development” (have your installation CD/DVD handy, or a good internet connection). Install the apps under that pattern, and then exit YaST.
