I am trying to change hostname but I get an error
Hello, welcom to these forums.
Just saying you tried something and that you got an error i not very informative. And our crystal balls are all in repair.
Always tell what exactly you are doing and what you got.
BTW, the normal way to change the hostname is YaST > Network Devices > Network Settings and then the Hostname/DNS tab.
How are you trying to change it? What is the error message?

It sounds like you have a problem.
To diagnose the problem, we’ll need more info - such as how you’re trying
to change the hostname and what the error specifically is.

Hello
I was trying to change hostname through yast but for some reason its not changing before when I goto YAST->Network it https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzwsCaJYl-xlbVFIeTRwVGM1V3M/view?usp=sharing
If I read these very tiny characters correctly, it says that you use DHCP and that it is configured to set the hostname from the DHCP server.
You can of course not have two partners that try to st the same thing.
That is the “Change Hostname vi DHCP” checkbox on the same page.
Or, when you use Network Manager, it is somewhere in Network Manager (I do not know where, I do not use NM).
Thank You Henk
I set it “no” in set hostname via DHCP and it solved the problem
You are welcome.
