cannot burn iso images

Hi.

I recently installed opensuse 11.1 64bits. I’ve tried to burn an iso image with brasero and other utilities included in the DVD with no success. All programs report that I do not have permissions to write to my chosen location.

I had a similar problem when writing to a CD/DVD until I changed some permissions for brasero and wodim, as someone suggested in another Linux forum.

Any idea about it?

Thanks

Have you updated your system since install. If not run them.

I installed the 11.1 version last monday.
Did you mean to update the system?

Thank you for the fast reply.

Yes.
Open a terminal and type: su
enter your password (it doesn’t display as you type)

Now enter:

zypper ref

then

zypper up

Hello again.

I did as you suggested. Interesting: after update, if I use the opton ‘Copy DVD’ that shows up in the context menu, the application (I supponse it must GNOME cd/dvd creator) works. Gnomebreaker works too.

That should be enough; however Brasero doesn’t yet and I would like to understand why. But I think that i will do it more relaxed, now that I can burn and copy cds.

Any idea
And thank you!!!

Are you saying the Disc Copy in Brasero menu doesn’t work? If so, how does it not work? And by copy are you meaning to create a .iso?

Yes, I want to create an iso.

When I right-click the dvd file, in the context menu I saw a option that said ‘Copy disc’. Then I see a dialog, click ok and the process started at least.

However, at the top of the context menu are the options for copying with Brasero. In this case, the process stops with a the message indicating permission problems.

Earlier you said:

All programs report that I do not have permissions to write to my chosen location.

What is the location?

I have chosen different locations; from folders in an external HD to folders the local disk (in my home directory).

I would like to share you the full guide to burn iso images on mac for free](http://www.imediacreator.com/iso/burn-iso-to-dvd-disc-on-mac.html#131).
