Cannot boot opensuse 11.0 after install?

Morning,
I have tried numerous times with both the 32/64 bit version of the OS, with no success.
Here are the details.
The HD in the notebook failed (Lenovo T60p, 8741c2u), had Opensuse 11.1 on it (updated from Opensuse10.3) but the sound and video would not work consistently so I figured I would wipe it clean and begin again.
But before I could get to it, the HD failed…so got a replacement from Lenovo
Could not get the system to see the new HD, called Lenovo, had to go into BIOS to set ATA mode to “compatibility”.
System sees HD, all the install goes perfect, reboot after some updates, system prompt reads “no operating system”!!
Tried a few more times, same issue.
So, I figured try to get XP to install as primary OS, then install Opensuse 11.0 for dual boot, worked like a champ!!
So, for now I suppose I am stuck with this config until I can figure out why this happened.
I have another drive for this notebook, exactly the same model, that I have installed SLED10,SP2, with no issues…
I even borrowed a DVD with Opensuse 11.0 from a co-worker, same issue…will not boot after install…
There have been no updates or changes made to the notebook before this happened.
Anyone else seen this issue and perhaps have a solution??

Thanks for any insight, assistance you may offer!
