Cannot access my wifi from Leap 42.1

I installed Opensuse Leap 42.1 while on ethernet cable, but after the installation I disconnected the cable and discovered that Network manager doesn’t list my wifi connection. I can see my neighbor’s wifi networks but mine. I created a hot spot from my phone and could connect, but my modem+router’s wifi refuses to show up. On Opensuse 13.2 works just fine with the same Ath9k driver. I tried to find a solution myself, but I had to give up. Could you help me?

I just got this. Neighbours’ wifi networks showed in Network Manager’s ‘available’ connections but not mine, which is usually the strongest.
Using xfce

I connected OK using ‘connect to hidden wi-fi network’ and typing in the ssid.

It’s showing zero signal strength, though - all grey bars instead of all blue which I got in SUSE 13.1.
EDIT: After a restart the bars are blue.
It uses channel 13 - maybe relevant.

I initially tried to specify the connection in yast > network settings. It displayed my ssid there - that was before I realised I needed to use networkmanager.

For info, I eventually did:
specify networkmanager in yast > network settings > global

Networkmanager icon said disabled: enabled & activated networkmanager in yast > services manager

The wifi channel used by the router was the problem in my case too. It was set to channel 12. I set it to auto and then I could connect to my wireless from Leap. Now I can “make the leap” and enjoy the best distribution which just got better.

The actual problem is that the wifi configurator “cfg80211” is not enabling channels above 11 (I suspect it’s assuming a US config), to fix, enter the following line into

/etc/modprobe.d/99-local.conf :

options cfg80211 ieee80211_regdom=“EU”

This will enable channels above 11 again and means that you don’t have to change the channel on the router.
