I installed openSuse 11. With Yast i cannot install something because there occured an error: cannot access install media.
I need the yast repository to activate the dhcp services so that i can get an ip from my router.
I ask for help because I have no idea according to linux
I am not sure what you mean by this ?
DId you have acces to the internet yes or no?
If you mean that you do not have access to the internet than yast>network devices>network settings
to configure the ethernet card DHCP IP Dynamic

at first thanks for helping. I did set this options like you told me before we kept in contact. During the boot process of openSuse I got the message that DHCP Client is not running after the computer tried to get an IP from my router. where can I set the dhcp client active. Maybe a service or something like that is not running. Where can I do it. If you know told me how I can do it with the command line. I don’t trust YAST. The other problem is to install packages without internet therefore I informed you about the problem that my opensuse cannot acces the install media although dvd is in the DVD-drive. Better I cannot explain it. If you can help me to get an internet connection so I don’t need the install media (openSuse install DVD)
In OpenSuse10.3 I had no problems. I installed and configured all with YAST.
Did you do both the md5sum check on the downloaded iso before burning and the media check from the DVD menu?
The problem you have is common when the image or the media is bad.
Hi… I am having the similar problem. I have configured Yast2 (Suse 11) using proxy which Yast confirms to be correct. But whenever I add an online repository, it says "Unable to create repository from URL Index of /update/11.0. Error trying to read from Index of /update/11.0.’. It also shows History as:
If you check you,re media and they are correct and you can still not connect to the internet we can try a other protocal and that is set the eternet to use PPPE IP dynamic

Actually, it sounds like something different. If I may make a suggestion, open a new thread for yourself with a meaningful title describing the problem. You’ll get much better response.
Just a small point of clarification with the media: There are 2 checks, which are entirely different. The first is the md5sum which verifies the iso file. The second is the media check on the DVD menu, which reads the tracks to verify all were written correctly.
