I really hate having to login in over and over. Can we add a “keep me logged in” option? I’m fine if it only lasts for 7-14 days, just so long as it’s not forcing me to relogin after closing the browser.
I can put up with having to login after closing the browser. What really annoys me, is when I am replying to a post and it demands my login info before it will post. It gets really ugly if I tried to post with the “Go Advanced” option (so I can preview the post). If that “go advanced” is interrupted with a forced relogin, I am finding that it is not posted or previewed - everything I wrote seems to be lost. (Note - this was observed before the most recent forum changes).
There were some issues with login requests as @nrickert describes
I have not seen it recently
No, we can’t do a stay logged in. This has been asked and asked…
If circumstances change, we will let you know.
I allways keep one window open to the Forums (e.g. to the main page), iconised. Normaly it just sits there and I do not realy look at it except when I login there in the morning. No more logins during the day on any other pages I use of the Forums.

the circumstances have changed…we can’t stay logged in here because
we are tied to iChain…a product of that sold company Novell, and
someone in Novell decided it was a good idea to tie the sign in to here
and the novell forums together so folks could conveniently slide back
and forth…
the trouble is that (almost) the only folks that found that convenient
were Novell employees (probably the same ones who decided it had to be
that way)…it certainly is not convenient for the new folks who come
here every day, and then find they have to log in over and over–and
probably the greatest majority of the folks using these fora want/need
to ‘slide’ to the Novell side once every blue moon…if that much.
the reason we can’t stay logged in is because folks with an account in
Novell have access to ‘real stuff’ and they (rightfully) wanted to
protect that with a forced, idle timeout…
but, we have no ‘real stuff’ on this side so the forced log out is
nothing but a simple irritant on the masses, to make it easy for a very
few coming here from the Novell side…
imo, since Novell is history it is time for us to require the few
Attachmate employees who come here to log in here–and, enjoy a LONG
time between forced timeouts…
another thing, iChain was ‘sold’ to this community as a convenience
for us also since our one log in would cover us everywhere in openSUSE
and Novell (as if many here ever buy SLED/S)…but one log in does NOT
grant access to the entire openSUSE/SLE environment!
try this: log into the forums and then go to Bugzilla…or FATE, or SUSE
Studio…there is no such thing as all are iChained together…well, it
might be tied together for the Novell employees…but not for us peons…
and, i guess when we are unchained we will also suddenly see those “Page
not found’s” vanish…

I use the same approach to minimise this tedious login process.
