Hi,
as described here: https://hansdegoede.livejournal.com/19224.html fedora 29 is getting some changes which result in a flicker free boot experience. Can we get that for opensuse too, please?
In time I imagine it will be incorporated. Still reads like work in progress for now.
As this is not a request for help though, it will be moved to Chit-Chat.
Moved from Install/Boot/Login and open for posting again.
I switch t he system on and go for things like adjusting my chair, getting tea, arranging the papers on my desk for the work I am going to do, etc. Then I expect the system to be ready for log in. I do not care what it shows between those times. Boring anyway.
I think especially on laptops it would be nice to have the boot process flicker free. The smoother and faster this works to more it will appeal to other people, and i think aesthetics is important
That’s personal. I couldn’t care less either for my own systems, but I know some users, customers do care. The number of times people saw openSUSE’s GRUB2 theme and immediately told me that it looked a lot nicer than f.e. *buntu’s are countless. Another thing that I wouldn’t want for myself is the HP logo ( my laptop’s vendor ) to display until the login screen, like shown in the video. But, I’m aware that lots of users feel differently.
This is general chitchat and thus my personal meaning of course.
When it would have been in a Help section. I would probably not have answered at all, because I have no technical contribution to make. But I would have watched curious for the solution(s) offered.
… and then, the solution I would offer is: Close your eyes for one minute, then open them."lol!
