Can rarely boot up after recent update

I gets stuck before prompting LUKS partition encryption password screen. It can boot up fine 1 out of 8 attempts on average though.

It’s been like this for about a few weeks despite several kernel updates.

I read that the current kernel has been causing boot up problems but not sure mine is covered. Any info or quick fix? Thanks.

Hi,

to me it seems there are severe problems in booting encrypted installations right now, see e.g. here https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=904987. Also plymouth seems to be crash prone, though I disabled and uninstalled it completely to get that out of the way ( https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2017-01/msg00511.html ). Another source of problems might be dracut / initrd / systemd.
Maybe this helps you look in the right direction.

Thank you for the link. I’ll see if I can do something on my part.
