can not play mp3 in banshee

I have a problem with banshee, when I clic a song, an X is displayed beside it, this is the output of the command line.

user@suseblue:~> banshee-1

Already checked if Gstreamer is installed and it is ok, from the packman repo.

I would look into rename / moving your banshee configuration directory (also .gstreamer in your home directory)

Also please do:
rpm -qa | grep gstreamer
rpm -qa | grep banshee

And output the results here.

I am having the exact same problem (for all filetypes not just mp3). Mine used to work and then it just stopped! I have tried reinstalling gstreamer and banshee to no avail.

I hope you dont mind me hijacking the thread…

I have moved both of the config directories suggested but there is no difference. The output of the two commands is below:

Thanks (and sorry again for the hijacked thread!)

no problem, you save me time and effort, I gues I will use GTKPod instead.

I have found a solution - dont use banshee!

I am now using gmusicbrowser with the mplayer backend and it is great, you can tailor the GUI to what you like and there are loads of settings to play with! There is also a plugin so that you can rip a cd using sound juicer and scrobbling for Last.fm.

I would recommend it as a solution to audio woes (unless you have problems with mplayer!).
