can not install openSUSE 11.04

Hello ,

When i click on " installation / Live Gnome CD "

a screen appears then it disappears fast

and i get a black screen

  • I checked my ISO Hash & it should work without problems

  • I tried several CDs / ISO " KDE/Gnome "

Processor : intel(R) Celeron(r) D CPU 3.06GHz

Memory : 3 GiB

Graphic Card : nVidia 8400 GS , 1 GiB

first do this: http://tinyurl.com/455hbml and if you have a good result
of that test, then instead of trying the Install option, try the
“openSUSE Live GNOME” which should boot up to a fully functional GNOME
session…

if it does not you have a clear warning that maybe your hardware is not
ready for openSUSE, or vice versa…

i’m not familiar with that hardware, maybe it is not “Linux ready”?

does you machine meet the suggested requirements of 11.4, here
http://en.opensuse.org/Hardware_requirements

by the way, be sure and backup all important data on that machine…

once i clicked on " Check installation …" the same thing happened

the monitor turned off but i heard the sound of DVD ROM which means that it was runing

  • my machine meets the suggested requirements of 11.4 .

No , I work with Ubuntu 11.04

Your problems could be related to the fact that you have a nVidia 8400 GS card which requires special drivers.

So you tried to install the NVIDIA drivers and it wouldn’t?? Any errors shown?? Just saying it does not work will not help to get it to work.
