Can not download opensuse DVD

I have tried several times but cant download the i386 opensuse DVD…

The downlaod always stops at 46% and does not go any further…

Any idea of why this may be happening…

Any other mirrors… sources…etc…

which download method are you using ? http, ftp, torrent ?

Andy

I am using the Ftp/HTTP method for download…

I was able to download the LiveCD but can not download the DVD… it always stops on 46% (2047MB)…

I have tried different download managers but they all stop on 46%… and connections are refused when tried after 46% download…

:frowning:

try a torrent, it’s more reliable than http & ftp. Downloading also depends on the browser, some can downlaod the complete iso & some have difficulties. But, as i say, try a torrent

You’re not trying to save on a FAT16 partition are you? 2GB is the limit
for a standard FAT16 partition with 32k clusters.

Sorry, not fully awake today - that’s obviously not the case :frowning:

As deltaflyer44 indicated, some browsers have a limit built-in. Perhaps,
if you indicate which browsers you have tried, someone will identify if
that is a probable cause.

I am not using FAT 32… I am saving it on NTFS…

I have tried both IE and Mozilla firefox…

I am using GetRight as download manager…

I cant use torrents coz i am behind a proxy at a university…

:frowning:

2047MB sounds like a 2GB limit. Try another download manager. Also are you going through a school proxy? Maybe that proxy has a 2GB limit bug.

You can try this download manager
wxDownload Fast (or just wxDFast) - A great multithreaded and multi-plataform Download Manager

Metalink

Metalink is an XML format, used by download managers, that contains the mirror and P2P locations of a file along with checksums. Metalink clients offer download resuming, downloading from multiple sources (both mirrors and P2P) simultaneously, automatic error repairs (only with aria2) and checksum verification, among other features. Hence using metalinks can deliver higher availability/reliability, self healing downloads, and very fast transfer speeds.

DownThemAll!, a Firefox plugin, is probably the easiest way for most people to use Metalinks.

aria2 (Build Service packages here) is the recommended Unix command line client, while wxDownload Fast (all platforms) has a GUI (packages here). On Windows, there areFree Download Manager, GetRight, and Orbit Downloader. For MacOS, there is also Speed Download. There are other clients available for Mac OS, Windows, and Unix.

The metalinks are served by the openSUSE download redirector. See http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.0/iso/dvd/ for example. You can find metalinks for all ISO images below the address http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/ .

See Metalink for usage and more information.
