can i zypper dup from ssuse-11.0 with suse-11.1 livecd??

i have installed suse-11.0
updates fully with yast
i have livecd of suse-11.1
can i distro-upgrade from livecd.?
yast did not complain about adding cd as repo.nor i can see cd as repo in in repos
how do i do this?
help needed.

To use zypper dup you have to have the 11.1 repositories listed here the live cd is not enough.
Thought not sure it will work with the live cd better to get the dvd

ok the livecd could not upgrade.
i have run distro upgrade zypper dup with the same 11.0 repos.

i have added 3 mirrors of korea and thailand.
but yast/zypper does not look at the mirror.
it always try to update from download.opesuse.org.
and it gives abort retry ignore every 5 minutes.
yesternight i left the comp on for zypper dup and disappointed to see it stuck aburt retry ignore from 1 am.
just 104mb download.
after i retry in the morning it completed the dup and kde-4.1.3 is up and running.

can you help me change the yast/zypper config file to look at mirrors first ?

i have tried deleting all suse main repos and placed only mirrors in repos. still it wants to look at suse repo only.

the config file says default is download.suse

i just cant get any updates from main site.
100-800 b/s speed is killing me.:frowning:
any time of the day or night it remains samee.

the other part is why i have to retry always? it is supposed to be atomatically retry.

funnier is my laptop just shuts off after it cannot get any downloads.

unexplained things are happening to me only:’(

If running / have installed 11.0, to run zypper dup, you need to replace the 11.0 repo’s with 11.1

However, I’m not quite sure what you are trying to achieve, your comments imply you only just installed 11.0, but perhaps I am wrong.

Why not just install 11.1 from the cd? Not ideal and not what I would usually recommend, but if you have an issue with bandwidth it might be your best method. Then you can do incremental updates rather than a distro upgrade.

The Laptop powering down issue is related to a powersave setting which can be disabled safely, so long as you are connected to the power supply.

the cd is not coming upto kde . can boot only runlevel 1
the xserver in the cd is not for intel 845 boards.
is there a command line installer in the cd?
i have tried various options available in cd.
what ever kernel options i opt the cd goes to X and gives me some colored vertical lines only and gets stuck.
thats why all these round abouts.
my isp bandwidth is ok.
only connection from download.opensuse.org is very poor.
if i can make the yat see the mirrors it can work.
i have now used 11.1 repos
and running updates.
i have locked the xserver for new server will not work.
if tou need more info i can provide.

if install from cd worked there was no problem at all;)

Have a look at this thread

Installation Problem Suse 11 - openSUSE Forums

option “3” goes to xdm start and gets stuck as usual.
option 1 and 2 gives me a console login.
neither sax2 -r -m 0=vesa option save the setting and sax exits but to a blank screen.
/sbin/yast2 live-installer comes up but fails on partition editings.
practically did not help in anyway.
thanks for suggestion.
just dont know
what further to do.
the partially zypper dup online update refused to register as no part of the installed system can be update registered message i got.
so i have to uninstall the messed up 11.0
