Can I use my notebook as a home server?

I’m currently use my new notebook as my primary workstation. So my question is can I use it as home server? My notebook is lenovo ideapad g40-45 with dual os windows 7 x64 and openSUSE x64 and connected via LAN.

Sure, why not?

Ultimately, it depends on what kind of services you want to serve. A
“home server” could be anything - file sharing with other systems on your
network, media serving to a DNLA client, hosting a game server …

But just because it’s a laptop doesn’t limit it.

I used to have an old Dell with a broken screen so i removed the screen and that ran slackware with smb for just over 2 years. So yup you sure can :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for your advice. I’ll do that. Sorry for my question because the desktop now become my parents’ workstation and the new laptop become my own workstation.

No need to apologise for the question, it’s just not specific enough
about what you want to accomplish.
