Can I Install both Windows 7 and SUSE

Hello

I’m new to SUSE World

I have HP Probook 4520s, but I installted Windows 7 because it is more easy to me.

Now I want to explore SUSE enterprise Desktop 11

I tried to install it using VMWare But there is a problem.

How can I install it using VMWare Please help.

I tried to install it using VMWare But there is a problem.

How can I install it using VMWare Please help.

Bit in a vacuum here.

First a few questions:
What instance/version/product of VMware were you using in windows 7
Did you get the VMware package installed in windows?
How far did you get with installing SLED in VMware?
What exactly went wrong (“there is a problem”)?

Thanks for you reply.

I’m Using VMWare 7.1.3

What do you mean by SLED?

About problems

I entered SUSE DVD that came with laptop, and tried to install SUSE, all in VMWare

Step format done, Copying files, Restart and asked to remove the DVD.

When restarted, It does some processes, and failed in step (Creating filesystem) and restart after 120 second.

After this restart, it shows this error…

GRUB loading, please wait…
Error 24

and can not do anything.

Hope this info is sufficient

How far did you get with installing SLED in VMware?

It take more than half an hour, and Virtual machine size is about 8 GB

SUSE enterprise Desktop - which means this is the wrong forum for you.

24 : Attempt to access block outside partition
This error is returned if a linear block address is outside of the
disk partition. This generally happens because of a corrupt
filesystem on the disk or a bug in the code handling it in GRUB
(it’s a great debugging tool).

ok, so your new laptop came with SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop (SLED)
installed…which means you need to be with the SLED folks, over in
forums.novell.com

this is the openSUSE forums…SLED and openSUSE are similar, but not
the same…

I was able to successfully install SLES 11 and SLED 11 using VMware Workstation 7. Out of curiousity, are you using the easy step wizard with VMware?

I Installed SUSE Server from VMWare and installed and worked successfully.

But this problem came with SLED

Using VMWare, I booted from DVD, and next, next, … till that error

But this is not a SLED forum.
