Can I go from factory to stable 11.1?

I was desperate to see KDE 4.1, hence I updated my repositories to get it and it’s dependencies from factory.

Now that openSUSE 11.1 is approaching, I’m wondering if I can stop being bleeding edge and switch to stable 11.1, which is just what I want. Is this possible?

These are my current repositories:

Main Repository (OSS) │[Index of /distribution/11.0/repo/oss](

KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop │[Index of /repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.0](

Main Repository (NON-OSS) │[Index of /distribution/11.0/repo/non-oss/suse](

openSUSE-11.0-Updates │[Index of /update/11.0](

KDE:QT │[Index of /repositories/KDE:/Qt/openSUSE_11.0](

openSUSE-11.0-Oss │[Index of /distribution/11.0/repo/oss](

openSUSE-11.0-Non-Oss │[Index of /distribution/11.0/repo/non-oss](

I think I can move to 11.1 by just replacing 11.0 with 11.1 everywhere. But what about KDE:QT and KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop? Can I just remove them safely at the same time I update my 11.0 links, and do a dist-upgrade?

Another question bugging me: Can I update to 11.1 right now, or is it all yet in factory, and I have to wait for the release for a clean update?

In a browser, just take those 11.0 repos you have and move up the file tree & you will find the 11.1 repos; then down to the page with the meta data – cut & paste in Yast.

I recommend waiting until 11.1 Release Candidate 1 (rc1) in Mid-November & install that as a clean install. Then in a short while 11.1 Gold Master (gm) will be released and you can do an easy update to that with very few problems expected.

I have had excellent update/upgrade success with zypper – “man zypper”.
untick all but oss & non-oss in Yast
“zypper ref”
“zypper dup” or “zypper up”

Have fun…

Thanks! I’ll wait for mid november then with my upgrade, I think I’ll follow your zypper way.
