Can I establish VPN connection automatically at startup?

Hello,

I am looking into using a Suse Linux desktop for a distributed desktop solution for a customer. What I would really like to achieve is a locked down Suse distribution with minimal apps deployed (web browser, cant think of anything else). However I would like the Linux distribution to automatically establish a VPN connection at startup and all traffic should be sent down the VPN tunnel, I would like this to be transparent to the user of the Linux in the event the tunnel drops they should not be able to access anything beyond their local LAN segment.

Any help pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated.

What VPN protocol are you intending to use? Depending on your answer you may be able to configure via
