I’m using Russian keyboard layout and I wanna edit it to make it more user friendly,
the reason is really obvious to any one who ever used Russian layout:
example:…
a=ф
b=и
c=с
d=в
…
Is there any way to do it??
Thanks!rotfl!
Adding a new keyboard layout is not hard. Please take a look at this post: swanrād.ch
I have only used this for different English keyboard layout. I am not sure what you need to do with Russian characters.
You might want to take a look at other IME’s such as IBus and see if anything is there.
Hope this helps,

instead, i would suggest you just use Personal Settings - Configure
Desktop > Hardware > Input Devices > Keyboard > Layouts and notice
the “Help” button in the bottom left…might be interesting to read
it to supplement this:
check mark the “Configure Layouts” box (if there and if not checked
already) then press the “Add Layout” button and spin to Russian,
then if you have a conventional Russian keyboard you probably won’t
have to mess with the variant selection…
then click Ok and Russian and whatever you have now will appear in
the layout box…if you want Russian to be used on every boot just
single click to highlight it and use the up arrow, to move it up to
first in the box…
click “Apply” and you are done…
