I don’t run/use postfix, the international fonts or any wireless on this workstation

Thanks

Possibly…

You may find other packages that you do need/want depend upon some of those. I know for example that Network Manager has wpa_supplicant as a dependancy.

Why not just leave them :\ …

Not sure how your international fonts were installed since I doubt they are part of a default install(hint - look at your installed apps), any you don’t use can probably be uninstalled without effect.
I haven’t checked 15.1, but past openSUSE versions have installed wireless networking components and Network Manager regardless whether you use them or not… but leave them disabled or unused. If you wish to remove, you can do so but will probably have little effect on storage or exposing yourself to any security risks.

Kate is listed , it’s one of KDE’s standard graphical text editors, you may not want to uninstall that.

Some email clients rely on postfix for sending outbound mail if the base code only manages inbound POP or IMAP. You may want to leave that unless you do only webmail.

TSU

Not a single one of those packages is installed on any of my installations.

When I did:

 sudo zypper rm intlfonts*

I got the guilty party!

Reading installed packages...
Resolving package dependencies...

The following 8 packages are going to be REMOVED:
  emacs emacs-x11 intlfonts-arabic-bitmap-fonts intlfonts-chinese-big-bitmap-fonts intlfonts-chinese-bitmap-fonts intlfonts-euro-bitmap-fonts
  intlfonts-japanese-big-bitmap-fonts intlfonts-japanese-bitmap-fonts

8 packages to remove.
After the operation, 116.6 MiB will be freed.

emacs installed all these fonts as a dependency.

How can I remove them without uninstalled emacs?

Thanks

sudo zypper al intlfonts*
sudo rpm -e --nodeps intlfonts-arabic-bitmap-fonts
...
sudo rpm -e --nodeps intlfonts-japanese-bitmap-fonts

In future zypper dups that include emacs, you can expect a complaint about missing font deps. Choose to ignore breakage and remove lock(s). The lock will not actually be removed due to its included wildcard.

I’m still trying to learn how to deal with opensuse

Thank you

For each and every Linux system which uses the Red Hat Package Manager (RPM), there’s a magic query which resolves the “what requires” dependencies:

rpm --query --whatrequires «*the name of the package you wish to remove*»

Maybe it helps when you write openSUSE rotfl!

Perfect! Now I’ve cleaned up a few items

Thanks
